Ok, this’ll probably be a long post :P

I just got back from my run - I was intending to use this as my ‘starting point’ for my July running goals.

*

I’m actually genuinely surprised by this.

I’ve been running around about 2km/12mins without stopping at the gym, and today I ran 0.25/2mins. Is running on a treadmill really that different to running outside on grass in the rain?

As for 5k times, I’ve been doing those outside with my housemate. Again, it’s a different surface - concrete instead of grass, and steeper uphill and downhill bits.

I let him set the pace - we probably walk at least 3km of it, and we finish in just over an hour. So I suppose 51mins is better than an hour, but I was kind of expecting better.

But on the positive side of things:

  • A sucky starting point is good, because I’m bound to improve from here.
  • I wanted to just give up and go home after about 1.5km, but I stuck it out and I feel better now.
  • I didn’t want to post this, because I’m a little embarrassed about how much I suck compared to a few weeks ago! I have posted it though.
  • I thought about just giving up on keeping track of my stats altogether - after all, I’m running for the sake of running, not training for something. But I will get better, and I’ll want this to look back on when I do!
